From “ Holy Spirit Kiddie Learning Center”
to “Madre Giuditta Martelli School
True to the charism of the Parochial Handmaids of the Holy Spirit, the Community in Silang, Cavite have started in the year 1998 a catechetical lesson for the children living in the vicinity who need to grow in their love for God and for them to acquire Christian virtues. Most of the children came from poor families and some could not even go to school because of their poor economic conditions. To respond to the needs of these children who were eager to learn, the Community have extended a basic informal education in preparation for the children’s entrance to the formal elementary education. It started with only six children who faithfully came everyday for a two-hour lesson in the Community’s nipa-hut. After a year, the children received from the Community a certificate and medals in appreciation for their attendance and performance. The following school year, 1999-2000, many parents from the neighborhood have requested the PHHS Community to continue with the basic education for their children. However at that time, the Community was lacked of facility to accommodate the growing number of children, but could not also refuse the persistent request of the parents because their children were really in a necessary need for a preparatory education.

The Community, in order to help both parents and children, have made use of the existing multi-purpose hall and turned it into a two make-shift classrooms for Nursery and Prep classes. The place was called the “Holy Spirit Kiddie Learning Center, very much like a day-care center for the children but with a closer supervision from the Sisters. Since then, a growing number of parents continued to enroll their children for the preparatory education. In the year 2001-2002,another classroom was added to provide a Kindergarten class. Gradually, The Holy Spirit Kiddie Learning Center have grown, responding not only to the children’s educational need living in the vicinity but also to those children from Amadeo, Tagaytay City and even from the town proper of Silang.

In the year 2005 the Holy Spirit Kiddie Learning Center was renamed into what is now known as the MGMS – Madre Giuditta Martelli School. The Securities and Exchange Commission recognized and approved its Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws on February 18, 2005.
Government Recognition Nos. K-025, s.2010; E-014, s. 2010 was granted on September 15, 2010 by the Department of Education Region IV-A CALABARZON.
The MGMS has not only provided the facility for the proper education of the children, but it has also successfully maintained a wholesome family atmosphere for the children to grow more fully.
Indeed, MGMS is “YOUR CHILD’S SECOND HOME”.
